iPad 2 scheduled for a late February 2011 release?

We all knew it was coming.  If Apple has taught us anything with the iPhone, is that there is a hardware refresh once a year, typically around its anniversary launch date.  Rumors are now beginning to surface from Digitimes that Apple is planning for an iPad 2 launch coming early next year.  
 

The sources pointed out that the iPad 2 will ship as soon as the end of February in 2011. Apple originally planned to start mass production in January, but because the device’s firmware is currently still in testing, Apple has been postponing the schedule. Since Foxconn’s new plants in Chengdu are still in pilot production, iPad 2 will be mainly supplied by its Shenzhen plants, while the company’s upstream component partners have all been notified of the shipments schedule.

Peek into a prototype Motorola tablet running android with a vector based Google Maps.



Google's Andy Rubin demonstrates a prototype tablet running Honeycomb Android at All Things Digital.  There doesn't seem to be any ground breaking stuff here.  But pay particular attention to the new Google Maps.  They are finally making it a vector based map program.  Which essentially means no more having to load new tiles as you zoom in and zoom out.  I'll leave you with no more words, as the video covers it all.

White iPhone 4 makes another appearance



According to 9to5mac.com the white iPhone 4 is scheduled to be released in spring 2011.  Why is this Apple?  Why release a new version of the iPhone 4 just a few month prior to the likely release of the iPhone 5?  Could this just be a test run to see what kind of problems would arise with a white face before they release the iPhone 5?
